Great Southwest Roadtrip Journal Day One Seattle to Boise

As both myself and my traveling companion, Shanon, have seen the length of Washington State and the Oregon Outback more times than we can count anymore, the goal of our route out of the Pacific Northwest, was just that - get out of the Pacific Northwest as quickly as possible.  The only way to accomplish this - spend a day driving, as far as we comfortably could -direct to Boise, Idaho.

As only two project managers can, our road trip is planned on an app called Roadtripper, estimating our daily mileage, time on road, and noting the sights and stops along the way. Thus, maximizing our road trip potential.

One half of the route is planned down to the exact detail (hotels, and sights to see). Then from our farthest point away Roswell, New Mexico, until we get back home, we have so far left it up to whimsy.  This could go really well, or sideways - but 24 hours in we still like each other, the little chihuahua Princess Charlotte is holding it together, and Shanon's new car is quite a comfortable highway spaceship - so optimism is high.

I'm far enough away from my jobs again to find the ability to form sentences that are not status reports or legalese - so even though the pressures of upcoming arbitration hearings are weighing on me - they will be there when I get back and the preparation is almost complete, and R2D2 is packed with computers to assist with me staying on top of things.

Meanwhile, there is open road, big sky, and changing landscape. Central Washington/Yakima Valley and Eastern Oregon are beautiful, and Boise was welcoming. We are not exploring Boise beyond a night in a pet friendly motel and dinner by the river, but there are other sights to be seen further South.
